Morocco officially host CHAN 2018:
It is now official, Morocco has been
chosen by the African Football
Confederation as the host country of
the next African Cup of Nations 2018
which starts next January. The CAF
Emergency Committee met on
Saturday in the Nigerian city of Lagos
and decided to organize the next CHAN
in Morocco. Three weeks after having
withdrawn the organization of the
2018 Africa Cup of Champions in
Kenya, it is finally Morocco that CAF
has chosen to host the 5th edition of
CHAN which is the second most
important football event on the
continent after the African Cup of
Nations. According to a CAF
correspondence received on Saturday
by the Royal Moroccan Football
Federation, the CAF Emergency
Committee's decision to award the
CHAN 2018 was motivated by the fact
that the Kingdom already has high
quality sports and hotel facilities. The
competition will take place in four
cities of the Kingdom: Casablanca,
Agadir, Marrakech and Tangier. In
addition to Morocco, Ethiopia and
Guinea were also in contention to
organize the championship.
